UNDERSTAND THE TOOL
Date calculations look simple until calendars introduce unequal month lengths, leap years and questions about whether the start and end dates are included. A date calculator handles those calendar rules consistently.
Datefully compares two calendar dates and reports the elapsed interval in useful forms. The tool relies on actual calendar dates rather than assuming every month has the same number of days.
“Days between” normally describes elapsed time and may exclude one boundary. Human phrases such as “including both dates” use a different convention, so always be clear which interpretation your task requires.
The interval from 1 January to 2 January is one elapsed day, even though two calendar dates are mentioned. Across February, a leap year adds 29 February and therefore changes totals that cross that point.
Months have different lengths, so converting an interval into “months” can depend on the convention used.
Most years divisible by four are leap years, except century years unless they are divisible by 400.
Not when only calendar dates are involved, but it can matter for calculations that include exact times and time zones.
