UNDERSTAND THE TOOL
Working-day calculations are useful for project schedules, service targets, leave planning and delivery estimates. Unlike a simple date difference, a workday count needs rules for weekends, public holidays and the organisation's actual working week.
Workday Count steps through the selected date range and includes only days configured as working days. Where a holiday calendar is enabled, recognised public holidays are excluded as well.
A workday result reflects the calendar assumptions chosen. A Monday-to-Friday office schedule is different from a retail or shift pattern, and regional public holidays may differ within the same country.
A normal Monday-to-Friday week contains five working days. If a recognised public holiday falls on the Wednesday, the working-day count for that week becomes four, assuming the holiday is excluded.
